The Election Commission cancelled 110 Government Resolutions and tenders issued by the NDA Government in Maharashtra after the Election Model Code of Conduct was announced. Maharashtra Chief Election Commissioner S Chokalingam expressed discontent over the decisions taken by the government.
The decisions were taken by the government and GR hours before the elections were announced. The GRs were then issued after the declaration of the elections. The Election Commission also cancelled appointments on various boards and corporations during the period. The Election Commission feels that the decisions and appointments can influence the voters. The Opposition members had raised objections over the decisions.
