Maharashtra may experience rainy weather in the days leading up to Diwali, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting rain across the state over the next three days. Although the monsoon season has officially ended, easterly winds carrying moisture from the Bay of Bengal are creating favorable conditions for rain, expected to continue through the Diwali festivities.
The IMD forecast indicates light to moderate rainfall across Maharashtra, with intermittent showers likely today in eastern Vidarbha, as well as parts of Konkan, central Maharashtra, and Marathwada. Light rain is expected in areas such as Sindhudurg, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Nashik, and western Maharashtra, while a yellow alert has been issued for eastern Vidarbha districts, including Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli, due to the potential for thunderstorms and lightning.
Clear skies are expected in Pune, Mumbai, and surrounding suburbs, with Mumbai’s temperatures projected to reach a high of 34°C and a low of 23°C. Cloudy weather is likely in Nagpur, while Mahabaleshwar is expected to record the state’s lowest temperatures, with readings around 16°C.
Following the monsoon retreat, Maharashtra is experiencing a mild winter chill, with cooler early mornings and occasional fog. Despite warm midday temperatures, a touch of winter lingers in the morning air. Scattered showers are forecast over the next three to four days, bringing light rain today (October 29) in Konkan, central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and eastern Vidarbha.
