Max Super Specialty Hospital on Tuesday released an update on the health condition of former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, a day after he was injured in a stone-pelting incident. Deshmukh was admitted to the hospital on Monday night after sustaining injuries during the attack.
According to the hospital, Deshmukh arrived at their Emergency department around 10:00 pm. “Mr. Anil Deshmukh was conscious upon arrival and reported a history of assault, presenting with an injury to his forehead, severe headache, and dizziness. The Emergency Medicine team promptly stabilised him. A CT scan of the brain revealed no abnormalities. He has been admitted for observation and monitoring, and his condition is currently stable,” read the hospital’s statement.
The attack occurred on Monday evening near Bel Phata on the Katol-Jalalkheda Road, around 8:30 pm. Deshmukh was returning from Narkhed after addressing a campaign rally for Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) candidate Salil Deshmukh. Four unidentified youths reportedly blocked the road near a speed breaker and launched the attack. A stone struck the windshield of Deshmukh’s vehicle, while another hit him on the forehead, causing severe bleeding.
Deshmukh was initially rushed to Katol Rural Hospital for first aid before being transferred to Max Super Specialty Hospital in Nagpur due to significant blood loss.
Based on a complaint lodged by Deshmukh’s personal assistant, Ujjwal Bhoyar, Katol police have registered a case against the unidentified attackers. An investigation is underway to apprehend the culprits.
