Nagpur: The increasing presence of heavy vehicles on the Sitabuldi flyover, despite regulations prohibiting their use, has become a major concern. These wide-bodied vehicles occupy almost the entire width of the road, making it difficult for smaller vehicles to navigate, especially during high-speed traffic, thereby creating a safety hazard.
Height barriers installed at both ends of the flyover, intended to prevent heavy vehicle access, have proven ineffective. Defying the rules, drivers of these vehicles often force their way through, damaging the barriers.
Experts have proposed the installation of high-power blinking LED lights on the height barriers to enhance visibility and discourage violations. However, no action has been taken so far to implement this recommendation or improve the flyover’s maintenance and management.
