Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin called the Indus Valley script an unsolved mystery for over a century and announced a USD 1 million prize on Sunday for anyone who can decipher it.
In his inaugural speech at a 3-day international conference marking the centenary of the discovery of the Indus civilization, Stalin stated, “We are still unable to fully understand the script of the Indus Valley civilization that once thrived.”
Stalin announced that efforts to solve the riddle continue to this day, and to encourage such initiatives, a prize of USD 1 million will be awarded to individuals or organizations that successfully decipher the script.
The Indus civilization, one of the earliest known, is renowned for its advanced urban culture, yet its script remains undeciphered. The decline of this civilization and the reasons behind it continue to be a mystery.
