The police administration in Nagpur has taken several precautionary steps to tackle the use of nylon manja during kite flying. Drones will now be used for this purpose. According to media report, Police Commissioner Dr. Ravindra Singal announced that within the next couple of days, drone cameras will monitor those flying kites or selling nylon manja. The department plans to deploy five drones for this task, and strict action will be taken against violators.
Although the use of nylon manja is banned, some people continue to sell it secretly. Due to its lethal consequences, the administration is taking a strict stance, intensifying raids across the city. While several sellers have been apprehended, the main suppliers remain elusive. Areas like Juni Shukrawari, Navi Shukrawari, and Itwari are considered hubs for nylon manja sales.
With Makar Sankranti approaching, police efforts have been ramped up. According to Dr. Singal, like last year, cases will be registered at respective police stations against those flying kites or selling nylon manja. To keep an eye on rooftop kite flying with nylon manja, five drones will be deployed. Additionally, special squads have been formed at the police station level, and traffic restrictions on certain flyovers during the festivities are being planned.
