After its widely appreciated ‘One Tree, One Cop’ initiative, Gittikhadan police station has once again set a benchmark by becoming the first in Nagpur to implement a digital crime record management system. The station has efficiently cataloged 25 years of records, enabling swift access to critical data in under five minutes.

Under the leadership of Police Inspector (PI) Kailash Deshmane, crime records from 2001 to 2025 were systematically reorganized in just two weeks. The documents have been categorized into “A” and “B” sections and securely stored in specially designed durable bags, each assigned a unique serial number ranging from 1 to 150.

“To streamline operations, an Excel sheet cataloging the contents of each bag was created, enabling personnel to quickly retrieve case or administrative files, enhancing efficiency significantly,” PI Deshmane said.
The newly designed storage bags, created under police supervision, are more robust and visually appealing compared to traditional storage boxes. “This design ensures long-term preservation of sensitive records and simplifies administrative tasks,” Deshmane added.
The revamped system has also freed up considerable space in the crime room, creating a cleaner and more organized workspace for police personnel.
Senior officials, including Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Rahul Madane, lauded the effort, emphasizing the importance of meticulous record-keeping for improving accountability and operational efficiency.

This innovative project builds on the station’s success with its ‘One Tree, One Cop’ initiative, where every staff member was assigned a plant named after them. Gittikhadan police station continues to set new standards for both crime record management and environmental consciousness, serving as a model for other stations in the region.
