The Directorate of Finance and Statistics in the state is participating in a national-level survey on ‘Health Expenditure of Families,’ conducted by the National Statistical Office under the auspices of the Government of India. Information will be collected for this survey from January 2025 to December 2025. Detailed data will be gathered from selected families regarding their health expenditure over the past 365 days. The findings of this survey will be valuable for both the Central and State Governments in planning and implementing policies and improving the healthcare sector.
The survey will be conducted across all districts of the state, and its main objective is to gather information on expenditures related to treatment received from government and private hospitals, dispensaries, family health expenditures, vaccination coverage for all age groups, and facilities provided to pregnant women. Families will be selected based on criteria such as ‘families with a child aged one year or less’ and ‘family members who have been admitted to the hospital in the last 365 days.’ The results will be used to enhance the healthcare sector and guide government policy decisions. The authenticity and quality of the survey data are crucial for effective decision-making at both national and state levels.
To ensure accurate data collection, a workshop was held at Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Nashik, from January 7, 2025, to January 10, 2025, providing in-depth training to the officers and staff responsible for collecting the information. The field officers and staff trained during the workshop will visit the homes of selected families and collect data in the prescribed format from February 2025 to December 2025.
The findings based on the information gathered from the selected households will be extrapolated to the state’s population. The Commissioner of the Directorate of Finance and Statistics and the Director of Finance and Statistics have appealed to the officers and staff conducting the survey to fully understand the household selection process, survey details, and to cooperate with the concerned households in providing accurate and complete information about health expenditure.
