In a bid to curb the spread of objectionable, obscene, and fear-inducing content on social media, Zone 5 police have launched a dedicated monitoring initiative named Garuda Drishti (Eagle Eye). Spearheaded by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Niketan B. Kadam, this initiative utilizes the cyber team’s expertise to track and take appropriate action against individuals posting such content.
Under the initiative, minors found uploading such videos are issued a formal warning, and their parents are counseled to instill responsible online behavior. Meanwhile, individuals above 18 years of age face legal action based on the nature of their content, along with an assurance that they will refrain from such activities in the future.
The police have urged citizens to report any objectionable or disturbing content found on social media to the nearest police station.
This initiative is being carried out under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravinder Singal, with the guidance of Joint CP Nisar Tamboli and Additional CP (North Division) Pramodkumar Shewale. The efforts are being overseen by DCP Niketan Kadam (Zone 5) with the assistance of the cyber team.
