The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) finally took action on Friday, March 7, demolishing illegal commercial shops that had encroached upon the playground of Bishop Cotton School near VCA Stadium. The long-pending issue had persisted since 2017, despite multiple complaints from the school and the Nagpur Diocesan Trust Association.

Frustrated by years of inaction, representatives from the Trust and the school sought assistance from Vikas Thakre, MLA from West Nagpur and President of the Nagpur City (District) Congress Committee. Thakre then escalated the matter to the Municipal Commissioner, prompting action.

Following this, NMC’s Dharampeth Zone launched the demolition drive, removing the unauthorized structures and restoring the playground for students. The move brings relief to the school administration, which had been fighting to reclaim the space for its intended purpose.
