Nagpur’s District Sports Complex is set for a major transformation after the Maharashtra government approved a ₹100 crore development proposal. The project has been cleared following the initiative and sustained efforts of the Revenue Minister and Guardian Minister of Nagpur and Amravati districts.
The ambitious redevelopment aims to upgrade the sports complex with world-class infrastructure to promote sports and nurture young talent. The project includes the construction of modern hostels with accommodation for 300 boys and 300 girls, a multi-purpose indoor sports hall, 20-metre and 50-metre shooting ranges, and a 70-metre archery range.
The approval also paves the way for the development of a 400-metre synthetic athletics track and an international-standard hockey astroturf, providing advanced training facilities for athletes.
In addition, the sports complex will be equipped with a 50-kilowatt solar power system and modern changing rooms to ensure sustainable and athlete-friendly infrastructure.
The redevelopment plan further includes international-standard grounds for football, basketball, kabaddi, kho-kho, and volleyball, significantly enhancing sports infrastructure in Nagpur and creating better opportunities for aspiring sportspersons.
