In a significant boost to Nagpur’s urban infrastructure, the long-pending redevelopment of the Morbhavan and Ganeshpeth bus termini will soon be realized. Both facilities are set to be modernised to five-star standards, complete with advanced amenities, as announced by State Revenue Minister and Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Saturday.
The announcement was made during a review meeting held at Niyojan Bhavan, where Bawankule evaluated various development projects. He revealed that a comprehensive commercial complex will be constructed at six key locations on land owned by the Zilla Parishad and Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), promising to unlock new business opportunities.
The minister directed departments to work in coordination to expedite the renovation of markets and public spaces, including Santra Market, Netaji Market, Dahi Bazaar, Itwari Market, Flower Market, and the Dik Dispensary in Dharampeth. He emphasized that all redeveloped areas must feature complete public facilities to enhance the experience for citizens.
In a parallel initiative, development projects will also be launched on Zilla Parishad land in Ajni, Zingabai Takli, and Badkas Chowk (Mahal). These commercial complexes are specifically aimed at providing business opportunities for women from self-help groups and other local professionals.
The proposed development will cover:
- 9,749 sq m in Ajni
- 24,432 sq m in Zingabai Takli
- 612 sq m in Badkas Chowk, Mahal
Bawankule instructed the Zilla Parishad to immediately initiate planning and complete all preliminary work to fast-track these projects.
