To help passengers stay cool during peak summer, Central Railway has restarted the mist cooling system at Nagpur Railway Station from April 8. With temperatures soaring beyond 45°C, the system provides relief to commuters waiting on platforms, ensuring a more comfortable travel experience.
The mist cooling system at Nagpur Railway Station helps lower the surrounding temperature by 6 to 8 degrees Celsius, offering much-needed relief to passengers. It works by spraying a fine mist of water through high-pressure pumps and specialised nozzles. As the mist evaporates, it absorbs heat from the air, creating a noticeably cooler and more comfortable environment for those waiting at the station.
The system uses high-pressure pumps, microfilters, and automated controls with a strong piping network. Microfilters prevent nozzle clogging, ensuring smooth operation and low maintenance. Ideal for large, open platforms where AC isn’t feasible, the mist offers relief from the intense heat. It’s eco-friendly, energy-efficient, and designed to provide comfort during Nagpur’s harsh summer.
The system also requires minimal maintenance, as microfiltration prevents nozzle clogging, ensuring smooth and continuous operation. The mist helps improve air quality by reducing dust and airborne particles, creating a healthier environment for passengers. Integrated into the existing station infrastructure, it needs no extra space or major changes. With this setup, passengers at Nagpur Railway Station can now experience greater comfort, even during peak summer heat.
