The Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik has officially announced a revised dress code for all students appearing for written examinations starting Summer 2025. The decision was approved in the recent Examination Board meeting held on April 16, 2025, aiming to standardize attire and enhance examination security.
The university has emphasized strict compliance with the new dress regulations, which apply to both male and female candidates, along with additional provisions for students with medical needs, including those with Type-I Diabetes.
Dress Code Guidelines
For Male Candidates:
Half-sleeve shirts or T-shirts in faint colors and full-length pants are mandatory.
Designer buttons, jewelry (rings, chains), and accessories are not permitted.
Use of mobile phones, electronic devices, watches, wallets, caps, and aprons is prohibited.
Only slippers/chappals are allowed; shoes are strictly banned.
Hearing aid users must inform the exam center in advance.
For Female Candidates:
Allowed attire includes half-sleeve shirts/T-shirts with full pants, sari, or salwar kameez.
Jewelry (except mangalsutra), designer buttons, handbags, and electronic devices are strictly banned.
Like male students, only slippers/chappals are allowed, and shoes are not permitted.
Hearing aid usage must be disclosed beforehand.
Cultural/Traditional Attire
Students wishing to wear traditional or cultural dress must:
Indicate this while filling their exam form.
Appear one hour prior to the exam for dress inspection.
Ensure their ID photo reflects their traditional attire.
Keep consistency between the signatures on the exam form and the hall ticket.
This rule also applies to religious and linguistic minority institutions, which must display and enforce these regulations on their notice boards.
Special Guidelines for Type-I Diabetic Students
MUHS has extended special provisions to students with Type-I Diabetes, allowing them to carry medically essential items into the exam hall under specific conditions. Permissible items (in transparent bags/boxes) include:
Sugar tablets, chocolates, or candies
Fruits (banana, apple, orange)
Sandwiches or high-protein snacks
Prescribed medications
500ml water bottle
Glucometer and glucose strips
Insulin pumps, CGM, or FGM devices
Mandatory Permissions Required
To carry such items, students must:
- Submit a formal application via their college to preexam@muhs.ac.in and coe@muhs.ac.in.
- Attach a valid medical certificate and recommendation from a district surgeon or government medical superintendent.
- Provide a written declaration ensuring the items are essential and will not disrupt the exam.
- Inform the exam center at least one day in advance.
- Hand over all items (except body-attached devices) to the vigilance team at the exam venue.
MUHS has urged all affiliated institutions and examinees to adhere strictly to the updated guidelines from the Summer 2025 session onward. The university aims to ensure fair, safe, and distraction-free examinations for all students.
