The Maharashtra government has announced that this year’s Class XI admission process will be conducted entirely online across the state, extending the digital system to rural regions for the first time. Previously, the online process was limited to urban centers.
The move marks a significant expansion of a system that began in 2014-15 in Pune and was gradually adopted in other parts of the state. Citing the effectiveness and convenience of digital admissions, the initiative has now been formalized under the state’s ‘Ease of Living’ action plan, aimed at improving public services.
All recognized schools and junior colleges will be required to follow the online admission system, which will be managed under the supervision of the Directorate of Education. Details regarding the schedule for the admissions process will be announced in due course.
Currently, the results for Class 10 examinations conducted by both the Maharashtra State Board and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) are awaited. With HSSC results already declared, Class XI admissions are expected to gain momentum once SSC and CBSE Class 10 results are released later this week.
