In a touching display of empathy and leadership, Akola Superintendent of Police (SP) Archit Chandak helped fulfill the lifelong dream of retiring constable Arun Ghormode — a ride on a Royal Enfield Bullet — during a farewell ceremony held on Saturday, May 31.
The emotional moment unfolded after Ghormode’s daughter shared that her father, who had served the police force with dedication, had always wished to ride a Bullet motorcycle but couldn’t afford one due to family commitments. Hearing this, SP Chandak immediately directed his team to arrange a Bullet.
Donning a helmet, Ghormode mounted the iconic motorcycle with pride, and to everyone’s surprise, SP Chandak joined him as a pillion rider. The duo’s short ride was captured on camera and quickly went viral, drawing praise for the officer’s thoughtful gesture.
The video and photos of the ride spread rapidly across social media, with netizens applauding SP Chandak’s humane and inspiring leadership style.
An IIT-Delhi graduate and 2018 batch IPS officer, Chandak is known for his sensitive approach to policing. Recently transferred from Nagpur, where he served as DCP (Traffic), he has already made headlines in Akola for taking prompt action against misconduct within the department, reflecting his commitment to accountability and discipline.
This unexpected ride not only honored Ghormode’s decades of service but also showcased the power of small gestures in making big impacts.
