The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) employees will get a hike in their dearness allowance (DA) from June 2025. The State Government has announced a hike of 7 percent from the existing 46 percent to 53 percent on the basic salary. The employees will also be covered under of the Mahtma Phule Janarogya Scheme or Dharmaveer Anand Dighe Health Scheme. The health insurance will be of Rs 1 crore. The announcements were made by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday.
Shinde also said that the free pass for the employees will be for 12 months now. Earlier, it was for nine months. Shinde held a meeting with the representatives of various unions of MSRTC employees. Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, MLA Sadabhau Khot, ex-MP Anandrao Adsul, Captain Abhijit Adsul, Additional Chief Secretary of Transport Department Sanjay Sethi, and Deputy Chairman of MSRTC Madhav Kusekar were also present. A discussion on saving on fuel, improving the passenger and cargo transport system, and a rise in income of the corporation was also held. The insurance cover will be implemented through the State Bank of India. The retired employees and their wives will also get a free travel pass for one year, Shinde announced.
