In a move to streamline support services for solar-powered agricultural pumps, Mahavitaran has added a new feature to its mobile application, enabling farmers to directly report issues related to their solar pump systems from their smartphones.
Over 5.65 lakh solar agricultural pumps have been installed across Maharashtra under various government schemes aimed at promoting renewable energy in farming. Until now, farmers had to rely on the Mahavitaran website, supplier websites, or a toll-free helpline to file complaints. With the updated mobile app, a new ‘Solar Pump Complaint’ section allows for faster and more convenient grievance redressal.
To lodge a complaint, farmers must provide either their beneficiary ID or registered mobile number. The app accepts reports related to malfunctioning pumps, damaged panels, low water output, and theft.
Each installed pump is insured, and the respective suppliers are responsible for maintaining the systems for five years after installation. Mahavitaran has mandated that all complaints be resolved within three days. Status updates are sent directly to the complainant’s mobile number to ensure transparency.
Local Mahavitaran engineers are tasked with monitoring the suppliers’ response and follow-up actions, ensuring accountability and timely resolution for rural consumers.
