In a major boost to South Nagpur’s infrastructure, the Public Works Department’s World Bank division has greenlit a ₹250 crore integrated flyover system linking Mhalgi Nagar and Manewada. Inspired by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s proposal, the 3-km elevated corridor will ensure uninterrupted travel between two key junctions.
The flyover will be built in three sections:
Mhalgi Nagar Flyover (700m, by Khatakar Construction)
Manewada Flyover (600m, by C S Construction)
Mid-Air Connector (1.4km), linking both stretches
The continuous corridor eliminates the need to descend at junctions, promising smoother and faster travel across one of Nagpur’s busiest corridors.
Costing ₹250 crore in total, the project covers civil works, landscaping, crash barriers, dual-lane medians, LED lighting, signage, and drainage systems. Safety is key—dual-side crash barriers, pedestrian guard rails, and proper clearance for commercial vehicles will be standard throughout.
Built with high-strength pre-stressed concrete, the structure can bear 70-tonne loads—ideal for buses and logistics transport. The flyover also adheres to urban clearance norms, ensuring no height restrictions under the elevated spans.
Once operational, it will ease congestion at Mhalgi Nagar Square, Manewada Junction, Besa Road, and Manish Nagar—cutting travel time and emissions for thousands of daily commuters.
Constructed under the EPC model, the project will be completed in phases over the next two years, marking a transformative leap for South Nagpur’s road connectivity.
