Nagpur, July 13: Dharampeth Krida Mandal (DKM) is all set to host the 25th edition of the Prakash Rajurkar Memorial Inter-Club Junior (Under-18) District Basketball Championship from Sunday at the DKM court in Shankar Nagar.
The prestigious tournament, being held under the banner of the Nagpur District Basketball Association (NDBA), will see participation from 13 boys’ teams and 13 girls’ teams. This championship also serves as a selection platform to form Nagpur’s 12-member squad for the upcoming Maharashtra State Championship, which is scheduled to be held in Pune next month by the Maharashtra State Basketball Association (MSBA).
The inaugural ceremony will feature a special felicitation of Sandip Joshi, the newly appointed MSBA President and the first person from Nagpur in 68 years to hold this position. Bhavesh Kuchanwar, recently elected Vice President of MSBA, will also be honoured by all NDBA-affiliated clubs during the opening function.
Following the ceremony, the tournament will kick off with its first match. Over the next 15 days, more than 300 young players will compete in 41 matches, conducted in a league-cum-knockout format.
Attractive cash prizes will be awarded to the champions and runners-up in both boys’ and girls’ categories.
