Nagpur Railway Station, one of the key stations under Central Railway’s Nagpur Division, is undergoing a major transformation as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS). With a focus on modern infrastructure, improved passenger amenities, and Divyangjan-friendly features, the station is poised to become a benchmark for smart and inclusive station redevelopment across the Indian Railways network.
The redevelopment works at Nagpur Station are progressing rapidly.

Foundation works for the elevated concourse between Lines 18 and 19 have been completed, which will provide smooth and segregated passenger flow across platforms. Demolition of old structures, shifting of utilities, and construction of new station buildings are underway on both the East and West sides.

A unique feature of this project is the conservation of the heritage station building. The historical structure is being retained and restored with façade cleaning, waterproofing, interior refurbishment, and architectural lighting to preserve its legacy. In terms of accessibility, tactile path installation for visually impaired passengers is in progress at multiple locations. Modern toilets, waiting areas, and lifts are being built as per universal design standards.

The station is also being infused with cultural elements through proposed murals, artistic wall cladding, and upgraded digital signage to enhance passenger experience. Nagpur Station’s redevelopment reflects Indian Railways’ commitment to modernization while preserving heritage and promoting inclusivity.
Once completed, it will stand as a model station, offering world-class facilities and seamless mobility for all categories of passengers.
