Under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) has introduced a new BSc programme in Semiconductor Materials and Devices from the 2026-27 academic session.
The course, launched by the University’s Department of Physics, aims to develop a skilled workforce for the rapidly growing semiconductor and electronics industry.
The curriculum combines theoretical knowledge with practical training in semiconductor materials, electronic devices, thin-film technology, microelectronics and characterisation techniques. Students will also receive apprenticeship-based industry training as part of the programme.
The course is expected to open career opportunities in semiconductor fabrication, chip packaging and testing, electronics manufacturing, quality control, research and development, electric vehicles, renewable energy, defence, aerospace and telecommunications sectors.
Graduates will also have the option to pursue higher studies in Physics, Electronics, Semiconductor Technology, Nanotechnology, VLSI and related fields.
RTMNU has announced spot admissions for the programme and appealed to Class 12 Science students interested in the sector to apply. The University said the course has been designed to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in India’s semiconductor industry.
