Needless to mention that Cibaca / Binaca Geetmala has been a super hit musical program on Radio in the golden era. The memories of the creator, presenter and the Radio Jockey Ameen Sayani himself, is as fresh as it was 50 years back.
“Geet mala ki yaad me†was a special musical theme show created to revive the magic of Ameen Sayani’s mesmerizing voice the immortal songs that he played as Sartaj Songs in his famous musical show Binaca Geetmala, for Jyeshtha Mitra Mandal, on March 24, at Dr Vasantrao Deshpande Hall, Nagpur.
Eminent singer of international repute, Surabhi Dhomne along with Gyanesh Verma, Zeeshan Shaikh, Mukul Pande and Anuja Saoji rendered the entire repertoire of Sartaj Songs of the Radio Program.
The show began with the melodies of “Ye Jindagi Usi Ki Hai†“Haal Kaisa hi janabka†Jadugar saiyya†“Jaye to jaye kaha†“Ai dil haimushkil†“Haal kaisa hai janaab ka†“Mera joota hai japani†and from the golden era to “Sun sayba sun†and “My name is lakhan†from its last years.
While the singers did an excellent job by presenting the songs brilliantly, the accompanying musicians performed well under the leadership of music coordinator, Sachin Dhomne. Sameer Desai in his mimicked the voice of Ameen Sayani, which created a magical spell on the audience.
The event was a big hit and left the listeners wanting for more. Audience made the auditorium reverberate with applauds after every performance. The show was equipped with audio visuals of Ameen Sayani saab and his unique style of anchoring which made the show quite entertaining.
Audio/Visual was created by Cherry Berry Live Mumbai and was operated by Mandar Pande. Sound was brilliantly handled by a young sound engineer Rishabh Dhomne and team.
Accompanying musicians were Anand Maste and Vikrant Limje (keyboard), Manoj Vishwakarma (guitar), Amar Shende (violin), Sachin Dhomne (tabla), Vikram Joshi (minor) and Pavan (octapad) Vikram (Percussions) and Nitin Janware (Dholak). Stage arrangement was by organised by Rajesh Ameen.
