The Maharashtra Government has declared public holiday on April 11 day one of Lok Sabha elections. Likewise the holidays will be applicable to all the parliamentary constituencies on their voting day.
The state and central Government offices, Semi-government offices, pub sector enterprises, universities, deemed universities, education institutes etc, will also be closed for the day including all the autonomous corporation under the central government.
The holidays are also applicable for employees who are away from their parliamentary constituencies.
For private sectors the Government resolution has directed to management and owners to grant paid holidays to staff members and workers on the day of voting. The private establishment includes all the Hotels, industries, shops, etc.
The much awaited Lok sabha election will be conducted in seven phase. The first will start from tomorrow. In Maharashtra the polling is scheduled in four phases April 11, 18, 23 and 29.
In first phase, Wardha, Ramtek, Nagpur, Bhandara- Gondia, Gadchiroli-Chimur, Chandrapur and Yavatmal-Washim parliamentary constituencies will vote on April 11.
On April 18, second phase, the parliament constituencies of Buldhana, Akola, Amravati, Hingoli, Nanded, Parbhani, Beed, Usmanabad, Latur and Solapur will have holiday to cast their votes.
The GR also stated that if it is not possible to grant off on voting day, the private establishment can permit leave for at least two to three hours to the voter to cast his/her vote.
