Ever wondered how it is to take a walk on the streets of Italy scooping in on that rich-creamy Gelato? Well! If you haven’t, then look no further than Della Italia, opposite NMC, Civil Lines, a brand new Gelato place in the city of Nagpur. This place is so pretty, it almost transports you onto the streets of Europe. If the pastel hues and the alluring décor of Della Italia gives you that European vibe, their wide array of flavors in Gelato are even more characteristically designed to wiggle your taste buds to a whole new experience.
This is Della Italia’s first month of operations and the place is already crowded up until it closes at 11 PM every day. The USP of this place is that, all the gelato making machines are imported directly from Italy.
Not only that, some fruits like Raspberries and Amarena Cherries are also directly sourced from Italy. Speaking of divine, they get their Chocolates straight from Belgium and Hazelnuts from Sicily. Radhika Kanoria, Founder and Creative Head of Della Italia, believes in serving the most authentic taste to her customers.
A Chartered Accountant by profession, entrepreneurship happened by chance. A sabbatical in Italy propelled this Gelato enthusiast to take up a short course in Gelato making and before she realized, she was already planning to turn her passion into a dream venture.
Gelato in Italian means frozen. Gelato technically, has about 4 to 8 % less butter fat than ice-cream and it has no air, which means it has a higher density and that is why it tastes richer than ice- cream. Gelato is made without any preservatives and therefore, a true artisanal Gelato has to be eaten within a couple of days of being made. You cannot freeze it and pack it like ice-creams.
Della Italia is getting a great response from the people of Nagpur and you’ll see the place buzzing with kids, teens and college crowd all the time. The most widely popular flavour is the Guava Chilly and it’s a rage amongst the youngsters. They love the specks of red chillies over a sorbet of Guava followed by Watermelon and Chocolate flavors. Kids love the Bubble-gum flavor because who doesn’t love colors and bubble-gum right? Mango Gelato is devoured by almost everybody because you can never have enough Mangoes.
And just like Jenna Evans Welch said, “You know people come to Italy for all sorts of reasons, but when they stay, it’s for same two things.†“What?†“Love and Gelato.†Well! We can’t promise love but what we can promise is a whole lot of Gelato that is churned out of love. Serving Nagpur some Italian love since 2019 March.
