Following the guidelines from Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU), an exam centre at Reshimbagh has installed air coolers in each exam hall to provide cool and comfortable atmosphere to the examinees.
Over 700 students are appearing the summer exam of the Nagpur University from the centre. Green nets have been put up in the waiting area so that students don’t have to wait under scorching sun. Lift too has been made functional for the specially abled students.
The Nagpur University (NU) officials had last week issued an advisory to all colleges to ensure proper arrangements at the exam centre to deal with the heat wave conditions in the region.
The move came after NU students who complained of lack of facilities at most of the exam centres.
Though the NU had asked to provide only one room with cooling facility at each centre to treat cases of dehydration, Prerna College of Commerce went a step ahead to provide coolers in each of its 20 exam halls and other measures to protect examinees from direct sunlight.
College director Pravin Joshi said Prerna College is the only exam centre providing such facilities to university examinees. “Every floor has water coolers for students; green nets are spread across open spaces between the main building and urinals to save the students from the scorching sun. A lift has been provided to those who are ill or differently-abled as well as pregnant students,†he said.
