Three drowned while one was rescued from the Kanhan river in Ramakona village on Chhindwara road under the jurisdiction of Saunsar police station. The incident took place when the boys went to immerse the ashes of a relative into the river.
Body of one of the missing boys, Saurabh Yadav (26), resident of Bhandarkund village was fished out from a river at Kajalvani village while two other boys identified as Ankit Rajendra Yadav (22) and Aniket Yadav (18), are still missing.
As per reports, the incident occurred when the three boys along with their family were immersing the ashes into the Kanhan river at Ramakona village.
While performing the rituals, the trio, Saurabh Yadav, Ankit Yadav and Aniket Yadav went deeper into the river and were swept away with the water current. Local fishermen present at the spot, jumped into the water to rescue one of the family members who jumped into the river to save the trio.
The search operation to find the other two missing boys with the help of local divers and a rescue team from Chhindwara is underway.
