Nagpur Shuttler Ritika Thaker won her second title in as many days at the West Zone Inter-State Badminton Championships held at Goa.
On Friday she won the girls U 19 doubles title with her partner Simran Singhi of Mumbai, in the finals they beat Lydia Barreto and Yasmin Sayed, the score reading 21/11 and 21/10.
On the last day of the tournament, they played the women’s doubles finals against Dipti Kuity and Shenan Christian 21/7 and 21/15 to emerge champions. Using their powerful smashes and precise netplay, the Maharashtra pair gave no chance to the opponents thus claiming the second title of the tournament.
After the tournament, Ritika said she was quite happy with their performance and to get entry to the nationals of both the categories. She was also happy to keep their record intact of not losing any match in state or zonal level tournaments for the last many years. She had thanked her parents, NDBA, MBA, Hislop college for their support and coaches Robin Simon and Ajay Dayal for their untiring efforts.
