Nagpur Municipal Corporation has decided to construct 13430 personal toilets in the city under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The aim behind the plan is to spread the significance of cleanliness amongst the people. NMC will try for the census of ODF Plus Plus, Additional Commissioner Ram Joshi informed.
Under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, more than 24 thousand applications for the construction of personal toilets have been received so far. After examining all the applications, NMC came down to a number of 13430 personal toilets that is needed to be constructed. It is worth mentioning that Nagpur has already been declared as open defecation free.
After the implementation of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, NMC has constructed 11 public toilets in the slum areas of the city. In addition, 68 public toilets have also been constructed in various places in the city while construction of five toilets is in progress.
Toilets are installed at Netaji Market, Budhwar Bazar, Gokulpeth, Bhajimandai, Phule Bazar and Mehadia Chowk.
As per the information, NMC will renovate the old toilets and a provision of Rs 2 crore has been made for the same.
A sanitation app has been created under the central government’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to make any complaint regarding cleanliness in the city. If you register a complaint on this app, the complaint will be resolved within 3 hours. You can upload photos of your environment on the ‘Clean Forum’ portal.
Additional Commissioner Ram Joshi has appealed to the citizens that they should download this app in maximum numbers.
