The borewell of Shashtri Layout, Subhash Nagar which is in talks as it was seen having boiling water a few days back, is said to be coming back to a normal temperature. The said well-had vapours coming out of it which was first seen by a flat owner at Vimal Apartment. Immediately after noticing an unusual incident, Dhananjay Bawane informed the Geological department as well as Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and even the police.
Vishal Sakhre had the well tested for the second on Tuesday, October 22 and the result of the routine checkup seems to be normal when compared to the previous condition. The water on the day of incident, Saturday, October 19 had a temperature of 60 degrees on this day the floor around the well was also noticed to be hot. When the Geological Survey of India (GSI) had the location checked for the second time the water appeared to be normal and not boiling and the temperature came down to 46 degrees.
According to the scientists from GSI, there could be an underground electric wire, which might be playing a major role in increasing the temperature of the water and for other abnormalities happening around the location. When the nearby hand pumps and underground water sources were checked they appeared to be normal in temperature and even the pH level of the borewell in Vilas Apartment has been proved to be normal. This clarifies the confusion that there is no chemical changes in the water which means the water can be used for drinking purposes.
As asked by the GSI scientist the flat owners have also informed Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) to visit and conduct a checkup on the underground cabling leakage which might be a cause of heating of rocks and ultimately heating the water in the borewell.
This water had the temperature hotter than the previously discovered hot water springs in Panchmari, Anholi Samoni which had 53 degree C and Ghatanji tehsil in Yavatmal which was recorded having 42 degree C of boiling water.
