Upcoming doubles pair of India Ritika Thaker and Simran Singhi reached to quarter finals of the ongoing Ecogreen Syed Modi International championships 2019 in progress at BBD indoor stadium in Lucknow.
In their second round match they beat more experience pair of Anura Prabhudesai and Riya Mookerjee in straight games , the score reading 21-12 and 21-15. After taking the first game easily , the Nagpur Thane pair were railing 1-8 in the second game, after which they pulled up their socks and took control of the match with their attacking play to wrap the game on 15. They now play giant killers Linda Efler and Isabel Herttrich of Germany who upset 6th seed Russian pair.
Speaking from Lucknow Ritika said that they were very happy with the victory and make it to the quarter final of such a big stage tournament. She had high praises for her partner Simran , for the way she played in spite of the fact that she is still recovering from dengue, it was sheer determination that they could put it across. She said they will give their best in the next match. Ritika is a student of Hislop college and trains under Robin Simon and Ajay Dayal.
