In one of its major actions against traders using banned plastic carry bags in the city, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) nuisance detection squad on Tuesday unearthed illegal stocking of around 408 kg plastic carry bags worth Rs 50,000 at a godown of Godavari Polymers at Kalmana Chikhali Road.
Acting on a tip-off, the Lakadganj Zone team raided the godown. Â Godavari Polymer’s owner was prosecuted under a plastic ban law. A fine of Rs. 5,000 was imposed on him.
In recent actions under swachh Bharat, the NMC has carried out various drives in an attempt to make the city a clean place. Under this initiative, the NDS team took action against people spitting at public places and on roads, walls in the city.
Mayor Sandeep Joshi and Commissioner Abhijit Bangar have appealed to the citizens to participate and cooperate with the authorities to make the city a clean place.
