NSSO conduct Four Days Training Camp on NSS-78th Round

The inauguration of the Regional Training Conference of National Statistical Office (Field Operation Division) for 78th Round of Socio-Economic Survey was held on Tuesday at “Training Hall, Indian Bureau of Mines, Indira Bhawan, Third Floor, Civil Lines, Nagpur. Subject of this Survey is “Domestic Tourism Expenditure and Multiple Indicator Survey”. The Purpose of this training programme is to give practical training to the statistical officers.

Shri Srinivas Uppala, Director, NSO(FOD), RO, Nagpur, welcomed all the dignitaries and participants on this occasion. In his welcome address he discussed the subjects of the Surveys and highlighted the importance of “ Domestic Tourism Expenditure Survey” and “Multiple Indicator Survey”. He said that Domestic Tourism Expenditure Survey is an important input for the preparation of Tourism Satellite Account by the Ministry of Tourism and data collected in Multiple Indicator Survey will be used for Generation of estimates of few indicators of Sustainable Development Goals.   He requested the media to give wide publicity about the survey. So that correct and reliable data can be collected.

In his speech Mr. Sujeet B. Pujari, Deputy Director, Data Quality Assurance Division, Nagpur explained about the role of Field Operations Division in data collection. He said clarity in concepts/definitions will help in collecting better quality data and will be helpful in the economic development of the country. He called upon all the officers and trainees to fully participate in the discussion.

Mr. S.N. Gawli, Joint Director, Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Government of Maharashtra, Amravati told that in this survey there are some new concepts and definitions in which all participants need to participate actively. Multiple Indicator surveys will be used for data collection in the Sustainable Development Goals.  Shri M.S.R. Raju, Joint Director NSO(FOD), ZO, Nagpur also said in his speech that domestic tourism expenditure survey was also done during the 72nd round. He urged to be thorough with definitions for quality of data.

The dignitaries present at the inauguration were Shri P.N. Sharma, Chief Controlling Officer, Indian Bureau of Mines, Nagpur and Shri Vishnu Raj G, Deputy Director, Zonal Office, Nagpur. Shri Srinivas Uppala, Director & Regional Head, NSO (FOD), Nagpur is the organiser of the programme.  Shri D.S. Thapa, SSO acted as the Master of ceremany. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Shri Deepak S. Nagdeve, SSO, NSO(FOD), RO, Nagpur.
