In a significant initiative aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, generating employment, and strengthening public-private partnerships, the Nagpur Division of Central Railway has announced the monetization of more than 25 commercial assets through a transparent and competitive e-auction process.
Building on the success of recently awarding 23 revenue-generating contracts that enhanced passenger amenities and boosted non-fare revenue, the Division is now offering a fresh range of business opportunities for entrepreneurs, startups, investors, and established enterprises.
The commercial assets proposed for auction include catering stalls at various railway stations, parking lots, digital advertising boards at Nagpur Railway Station, train information display boards, out-of-home (OOH) hoarding sites, and other strategically located commercial spaces with strong revenue potential. These assets provide businesses access to high-footfall locations and a unique opportunity to expand their market presence.
To ensure transparency and ease of participation, the Ministry of Railways has streamlined the contract award process through the Indian Railways E-Procurement System (IREPS). The online e-auction platform enables seamless participation from interested bidders across the region and the country, promoting wider competition and ease of doing business.
Railway officials stated that the initiative is expected to create substantial direct and indirect employment opportunities while encouraging private sector participation in the railway ecosystem. With millions of passengers utilizing railway services annually, the available assets offer attractive prospects for businesses engaged in food services, advertising, retail, mobility solutions, and allied sectors.
Interested entrepreneurs, business houses, startups, and investors are encouraged to participate in the upcoming e-auctions and become partners in the growth journey of Indian Railways. Details regarding auction schedules and participation guidelines are available on the IREPS portal.
