Police have made extensive security arrangements across Nagpur for the Maharashtra Bandh called by the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) on Thursday. Around 3,500 police personnel have been deployed across the city to maintain law and order.
Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangare Patil has directed all police stations to remain on high alert and ensure peace during the bandh. Patrolling has been intensified since Wednesday night, with special teams stationed at sensitive locations and police vehicles conducting continuous rounds across the city.Security has been strengthened at key locations, including major roads, markets, bus stands, railway stations, and other crowded areas.
Fixed police checkpoints have also been set up, with six personnel deployed at each point for quick response to any incident.The city’s Command and Control Centre will monitor movement through its CCTV network, keeping a close watch on important roads, public places, and protest sites throughout the day.
Additional teams from the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) and Rapid Control Police (RCP) have also been deployed to reinforce security and respond swiftly to any law-and-order situation.
On Wednesday, Commissioner Nangare Patil reviewed the security arrangements with senior officers and instructed them to remain vigilant, respond promptly to any incident, and take strict action against anyone attempting to disturb public peace.
Officials said comprehensive security arrangements are in place to ensure the bandh passes off peacefully.
