Private medical colleges will no longer be able to conduct their own admission rounds for MBBS and BDS courses. From this academic year, all first-year admissions will be carried out only through the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) conducted by the State CET Cell.The Maharashtra government has abolished institution-level admission rounds to ensure a transparent and fair admission process.
The government has also introduced a strict rule to prevent seat blocking. Students who are allotted a seat in the final admission round but fail to take admission will be barred from participating in the admission process for the next two years.The move comes after repeated complaints against private medical colleges over alleged irregularities during admissions.
Students have claimed that despite being on the merit list, deserving candidates were denied seats, while some colleges allegedly charged arbitrary fees and made last-minute seat allotments during the final admission round.
