The situation in the city is getting worse day by day as the number of COVID-19 patients is going up each day. All the efforts by the administrative system to control the spread of the virus could not bring any relief to the situation. Despite the lockdown, people step out of the house just to roam and chit chat.
In places like Burdi, Cotton Market, people are still roaming in groups. To avoid this, the Cotton market has been closed till further orders. Vegetable vehicles coming to the cotton market will now be diverted to different parts of the city to divide the crowd in one place.
Warning the people to stop what they are doing, Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe said, “Citizens appear to leave their house without any reason, despite ‘lockdown’ and repeated patrolling by the administration. If citizens no longer cooperate with the lockdown, they will face a critical situation in the future.”
He appealed to the citizens through social media today and informed them about the serious situation that is currently emerging.
At present, 4 coronavirus infected patients have recovered and have been sent home. However, ten other positive diagnosed patients are undergoing treatment at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital as well as Government Medical College and Hospital. If citizens no longer listen and follow the administration’s directives, there is a possibility of the virus spreading within the community and if that happens, the situation will be out of control, Mudhe said.
Meanwhile, to deal with problems people facing during the lockdown, the municipal administration has arranged various other facilities like home delivery of groceries so that people should stay at home.
