Grand Master Raunak Sadhwani emerged winner in the first Online Blitz Chess Tournament organised by Chess Pathshala run by GM Swapnil Dhopade on Monday.
It can be mentioned here that Chess Pathshala organised the online chess tournament to keep the players busy in 21-day lockdown. The event evoked good response as around 72 Under-15 players including some from Dubai participated in the tournament.
Sadhwani scored 7.5 points out of nine games and won the first prize of Rs 10,000. There was a tie between second to fifth places.
On the application of tie-breaker, International Master Leon Mendonca from Goa who scored 7 points out of 9 achieved second place. He walked away with the second prize of Rs 5,000.
The third prize of Rs 3,000 went to Grandmaster Gukesh of Tamil Nadu. Dev Shhah of Mumbai (Rs 2,000) ad IM Aditya Mittal also from Mumbai (Rs 1,000) finished fourth and fifth respectively.
