After limiting its services to essential products, e-commerce company Amazon has now temporarily suspended cash on delivery (COD) payment method to minimize the risk of contraction due to the Coronavirus and ensure the practice of social distancing.
“To ensure social distancing, we have temporarily suspended Pay on Delivery for all orders, and are only accepting orders made using online payments. We will continue to deliver orders that are paid online,” Amazon’s website and the app said.
“We are closely monitoring the developments of COVID-19 and its impact on our customers, selling partners, and employees, and based on this, are making changes to our logistics, transportation, supply chain, purchasing, and seller processes,” Amazon had said in its statement.
However, cash on delivery options is available on other online food delivery platforms including Zomato, Swiggy, Grofers, etc. even as they continue to suggest making online payments during order checkouts.
