The COVID19 pandemic which has affected not only the railway services of the country but also the ongoing work of Nagpur Metro. At present, 4 completely ready metro trains i.e. 12 coaches are stranded in China.

The Nagpur Metro work has been started years ago with an aim to strengthen the local transport system in the city. The project catering to Nagpur–the Orange City and Tiger Capital of India–aims to create 2 lakh jobs. Apart from transit-oriented development, the project aims to reduce the number of vehicles that ply on roads and also bring down air pollution in the city.
The order to make coaches has been given to China which is the first country to report coronavirus cases in December 2019. China had to provide a total of 23 trains i.e. 69 coaches for Nagpur Metro. Out of which 19 trains i.e. 57 coaches have reached India.
China was one of the worst-hit countries of coronavirus. After COVID 19 outbreak India has also been locked down for the last one month. In such a situation, it is difficult to say when will the trains from China will reach Nagpur.
