Nitin Raut: Gave statement to give relief in power bill at behest of Deputy Chief Minister

As we know the pandemic and lockdown have created many woes in our life .Amid this serious situation, after the public demand state government has given a positive nod to waive the electricity bill of the lockdown period. However, this created a stir among the political parties even senior congress leader Ashok Chavan stated that the government had made a mistake in this matter. And state energy minister Nitin Raut clearly said that it was only at the behest of Ajit Pawar that he gave a statement to give relief in the electricity bill. He reaffirmed that whatever he said to give concession in the bill was not his personal opinion.

Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar convened the first meeting regarding the power bill waiver then Ashok Chavan was hospitalized due to Covid infection. In such a situation, he probably will not be aware of what happened in the meeting. He further added that during the meeting Ajit Pawar made a call to MERC and discussed the power bill waiver issue with the MERC. After this he asked to send the proposal to the ministry of energy and present it under the consideration of the Cabinet. Raut said that deputy chief minister took four meeting of finance department in this regard. Separate proposals were called. The Chief Minister himself took three meetings. In this context, the cabinet note has been prepared eight times.
