Power employees will be going on state-wide strike on August 10 in protest against the proposed Electricity Act of the central government. As many as 12 unions of electricity employees announced to support the strike.
The coordination committee of power employees unions decided this in a meeting. The meeting which held at MSEDCL office in Katol, was presided over by workers federation’s Mohan Sharma.
CN Maurya of the federation, SE’s AB Lokhande, Barai of Vidyut Ksherta Tantrik Union were prominently present. In the meeting, the speakers said that the central government is trying to pass the proposed Electricity Act in the monsoon session of parliament.
With the implementation of this Act, privatisation and franchising will be encouraged. 13 states have opposed this law. Along with farmers’ organisations, many have also demanded the repeal of the law.
