A team of forestmen arrested four persons and seized tiger canine from them on Friday near Apna Punjab Dhaba on Nagpur-Chandrapur highway.
On a tip-off that some persons are about to sell body parts of a tiger, forestmen laid a trap near dhaba and detained three persons – Vijay Haribhau Wagh (33), a resident of Butibori, Parasram Nandu Bijwe (36), a resident of Taas, and Ganesh Devidas Ramteke (28), a resident of Bordkala.
While checking foresters seized tiger canine, Hero Honda Passion Pro bearing no: MH-40-AD-9152 etc. An offence has been registerd under various sections of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
During interrogation, they informed that two more companions were also involved in the crime. Accordingly, the team raided one Deekshanand Dilip Raut, a resident of Masala in Chimur tehsil, on Saturday and arrested him. The other accused is still absconding, it is reported.
Forestmen produced all the four accused before JMFC, Nagpur Rural, who granted them Forest Custody Remand till September 3.
The action was taken under the guidance of Dr Bharat Singh Hada, Dy CF, Nagpur by N G Chandewar, ACF and team leader, Umrer, L V Thokal, RFO, Butibori, and staff members. Further inestigation is underway.
