The immersion of Ganesh idols has been banned in the lakes falling under Nagpur Muncipal Corporation limit. The diecision has been taken in view of the environ ment friendly Ganesh festival. Artificial ponds and tanks will be made for the immersion.
This year NMC has a plan to make 250 artificial tanks. Similarly, the sale and purchase of Plaster of Paris (POP) idols have been banned in the city. Fine will be imposed on the seller found selling Pop idols and the idols will be seized.
As per the direction of NMC commissioner Radhakrishnan B, solid waste management department deputy commissioner Rajesh Bhagat ossued order on September 3 regarding sale of idols and immer sion. A meeting was also held in presence of mayor Dayashankar Tiwari on the preparation for Ganesh festival. After that NMC administration issued the order.
