The one-act play ‘Suryast Se Pehele’, by the B VOC Department of VMV College, Wardhaman Nagar secured second position in the Khasdar Karandak One-Act Play Competition.
To add to the distinction, the play also got first position in set designing.
The play was directed by faculty of the department and the winner of the Best Actress Award at 11th Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival Prof Sanchi Jiwane.
The set designing in the play was done by Tanmay Sakore and Nitesh Suryavanshi, students of B VOC course.
As many as 36 students of B VOC Department participated in this play. B VOC Department in VMV College is running for last seven years in which a Bachelor’s degree is awarded in Acting,
Theatre and Stage craft. Apart from makeup, lights, camera, sound and video editing, many skills are taught under Theatre and Stagecraft along with the
basics to precision in acting. This course, funded by UGC and Nagpur University, is a recognised course.
The students are guided from time to time by Principal Dr Murlidhar Chandekar, Industrial Expert Volga Thakar and Administrative Officer Dr Shraddha Gawande.
Apart from Prof Jiwane, Dr Manik Joshi Sovani, Prof Shweta Deshpande, technical expert Naved Sheikh, Manish Durugkar, Prashant Takote and all the students worked hard.
The entire team was congratulated by Shri Nagpur Gujarati Mandal that runs the college.
