Maharashtra Resident Doctors Association (MARD) Government Medical College unit members staged poster agitation, sloganeering and flex media campaign on Sunday. The agitation was in support of Central MARD Committee’s staging boycotting OPD for inordinate delay in starting counselling for NEET-PG admission.
A petition for early decision is pending in the Supreme Court in this connection. The Counselling for Post-graduate admission, which usually begins in January, was actually started in August and deferred in view dispute arising out of reservation of seats.
The resident doctors already suffered academic losses during the COVID pandemic. They rendered services to Corona affected patients, keeping aside their specialized academic pursuit. As the admission procedure was delayed, about 33 percent resident doctors are shouldering entire work in hospitals.
The Central MARD Committee has started agitation a couple of days back. Nagpur GMC has joined the agitation in a phased manner. They will work by putting black badges on Monday. The agitation will be continued as per direction of the National Unit.
