Maharashtra Government has decided to allow sale of wine through malls. Super Markets, of 100 sqft and above will now dispense wine. The decision was taken in the cabinet meeting on Thursday, January 27, 2022.
In the new wine policy the state government plans to increase wine production by 1,000 crore litres. Wine from various food grains and fruits are being made in Maharashtra.Â
The state presently sales about 70 lakh litres of wine every year. Wine is also used in various bakery products and other cousins. The wine will be sold in cans like beer through big general stores, malls, super markets.
The State Government has also announced that state excise will be 10 per cent per litre in the state. Although availability of wine has been made easy, it will be costly for the wine lovers.
