Various organisations celebrated 131st Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti by organising separate functions in the city while many leaders, officials and workers paid floral tributes to the statues of Bharat Ratna Dr Ambedkar at Deekshabhoomi and at Samvidhan Chowk on Thursday.
Dr Nitin Raut, Guardian Minister for Nagpur district, offered garland to the statue of Dr Ambedkar at Samvidhan Chowk and paid tributes to this great leader, who headed the committee for drafting Indian Constitution, in the morning. R Vimala, District Collector and Radhakrishnan B, Administrator of Nagpur Municipal Corporation, and senior police officers also paid flora tributes on the occasion.
At a function held in Bachat Bhavan, Dr Raut launched mahabani.in website to mark the occasion. He said that information about various government schemes is made available in just one click and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Justice Scheme means it is the beginning of benefit from home revolution. He expressed his happiness that the website taking guarantee to give justice to common man was being launched to mark jayanti of Dr Ambedkar. Legislator Abhijit Vanjari also expressed his views. R Vimala made introductory remarks. Mahesh Motkar of Picksal Start Sanstha gave demo on functioning of the website. Rajesh Gaikwad proposed a vote of thanks.
Meanwhile, the jayanti of Dr Ambedkar was celebrated as Social Justice Day in Tehsil Office at Saoner in which Sunil Kedar, Minister for Dairy Development and Animal Husbandry, was the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he said that the government was extending help by way os grants to all constituents of society in order to fulfil the dream of Dr Ambedkar. On the occasion, Kedar distributed cheques worth Rs 57 lakhs. Aruna Shinde, Chairperson of Panchayat Samiti, was the guest of honour.
Similarly, Radhakrishnan, Administrator of NMC, offered floral tributes to the statue of Dr Ambedkar at Samvidhan Chowk.
Moreover, Canara Bank SC/ST Emplolyees Welfare Association held a function at the statue of Dr Ambedkar at Samvidhan Chowk, where Sunil and Sanjay Bhatale, both Asstt General Managers of Canara Bank paid floral tributes to Dr Ambedkar and distributed sweets. Prakash Pathrabe, Deputy General Secretary, Nikhil Meshram, Joint Secretary and executive members were present.
