Humanity still exists which is evident from the fact that members on social media, foreigners and others collected Rs 1.25 lakh and handed-over the amount to family members of Samayya Madan Gora, Van sainik, who died in attack by teak wood smugglers while on duty in Sironcha during last Diwali.
Ajinkya Bhatkar, Honorary Wildlife Warden, Nagpur, took initiative and made appeal on social media and others for extending financial help to wife and daughter of Gora and the people responded voluntarily. Dr Savan Deshmukh, Honorary Wildlife Warden, Amravati and his organisation CARS extended active help.
Bhatkar handed over the cheque for Rs 1.25 lakh to the wife of Gora at a function held at Sironcha on Monday in presence of Poonam Pate, Deputy Conservator of Forest, Sironcha, Shrinivas Katku, Divisional Forest Officer Jeevan Chaudhari and forest employees. They paid tributes to Gora and assured the family to extend all possible help in the future.
