The farmers should get seeds, fertilizers and pesticides as per their requirements for Kharif season. There should not be any complain in this regard. The authorities concerned should take suitable action by raiding agricultural shops/centres if spurious seeds are supplied to farmers, asked Sunil Kedar, Animal Husbandry Minister, here on Tuesday.
He was addressing a pre-Kharif review meeting held in Abasaheb Khedkar Hall of Nagpur Zilla Parishad. Rashmi Barve, President of Nagpur ZP, Yogesh Kumbhejkar, Chief Executive Officer, Nagpur ZP, Tapeshwar Vaideya, Chairman of Agriculture & Animal Husbandry Committee, Bharti Patil, Chairperson, Education & Finance Committee, Ujjwala Bondhare, Chairperson, Woman & Child Welfare Committee, KamalkIshor Futane, Addl Executive Officer, Milind Shende, District Agriculture Superintendent, other office-bearers and officers were present.
Kedar further said that the Agriculture Department should prepare a list of such farmers who have not yet received compensation for damages and submit it to PDKV, Akola. The farmers would get the compensation amount in a month’s time, he added.
The minister said, there is a vast agricultural land for cotton and soyabean cultivation but the farmers should give stress on growing maize and jowar. The Agriculture Officers should create awareness among them and convince them about benefits, he said.
Shende gave information about pre-Kharif season adding that cotton is grown on 4.77 lakh hectares of land, soyabean on 1.57 lakh ha of land, paddy on 88,905 ha and Tur on 83,600 ha of land. The department has sufficient stock of fertilizers, he added.
